MARK REYNOLDS,  Chief Executive Officer

NEW YORK, NY – March 17, 2026 – Redeemer City to City (RCTC), a global church planting organization that equips leaders to accelerate the multiplication of gospel-centered churches in cities around the world, today announced that Mark Reynolds has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer.

Reynolds has served with RCTC since 2003 and brings more than two decades of experience and institutional knowledge to the role. He has served as interim CEO since last fall when Steve Shackelford announced his retirement. The organization also recently announced James H. Herring as the new Board Chair for Redeemer City to City.

“After months of prayerful discernment, the board unanimously agrees that Mark Reynolds is the right person to lead Redeemer City to City through the next phase of our Gospel journey together,” said James Herring. “We are thrilled to see what God has in store for City to City through Mark’s leadership in the years ahead.”

Redeemer City to City was co-founded in 2001 by the late Timothy J. Keller (1950–2023), growing from the church planting work that began at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in the late 1990s. RCTC’s mission is to prayerfully help leaders start and strengthen churches to advance the gospel together in their cities. The organization works in over 75 global cities throughout Africa, Asia, Australia, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, and Europe.

“Serving this organization for over two decades, shaped by Tim Keller’s vision, mentorship, and deep love for cities, has been one of the greatest privileges of my life,” Mark Reynolds said. “With deep gratitude and great anticipation, I look forward to building on that legacy alongside our staff, partners, ministry leaders, and the churches we serve.”

Reynolds was among the earliest leaders recruited by Tim Keller to build what was then known as the “Church Planting Center.” Over his 23-year tenure, Reynolds has served as chief architect for numerous projects, led departments and initiatives, recruited and mentored hundreds of field leaders and staff, engaged with donors, and been deeply involved in developing and protecting what has become known as RCTC’s unique Gospel DNA.
