DAVID WHITEHEAD, Director, Coaching
David has been in ministry for over 37 years and brings a diversity of experience to City to City world. David’s early background as an atheist has given him a unique perspective that has helped many Christians navigate the mainstream culture. David moved to New York City after 9/11 and has helped to plant 4 churches in the area.
David has served as a coach for City to City for over 16 years. He is certified as a coach with CoachNet and as a coach trainer with City to City and Church Multiplication Ministries. David has coached a wide diversity of Christian leaders around the world and has been establishing coaching networks globally.
David and his wife, Kathleen, have two daughters and live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
JOHN THOMAS, Senior Director, Training
John Thomas is responsible for designing and delivering many of our training experiences for CTC, both in New York and in other global cities. He has written and field-tested CTC's Incubator, a transformational training system for urban church planters. His vision is to develop a global cadre of trainers who collaborate in the service of gospel church planting in every city in which we work.
John has been involved in ministry training and church planting overseas, as well as in the US, most recently planting Church of the Redeemer in Atlanta.
John earned a Ph.D. in anthropology with an emphasis in adult education and spiritual formation, and continues to be intrigued by how epistemology, ethos, and cultural values impact the quest to know God and each other.
He is married to Shari, founder/director of Parakaleo, a ministry dedicated to the care and nurture of church planting couples. They live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
MELANIE DARYANI, Assistant, Global Strategy and Leadership Development
Melanie Daryani works as the Assistant, VP of Global Strategy and Leadership Development. Prior to joining the City to City team, Melanie served as the Ministry Director of a PCA church in Carrboro, NC. She also has experience in event planning and non-profit strategic planning.
Melanie has a degree from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication with a focus in Public Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
She enjoys attending Broadway Shows, eating good food with friends, and taking adventures with her husband and their two girls.
ESTHER SCHISSLER, Manager, Leadership Development and Training
Esther was born in Boston and raised in sunny San Diego. She moved to NYC in 2010 and fosters a deep love for the city. She started working at Faith & Work in July 2014.
Esther has a background in early childhood education and in real estate sales. Working with individuals in and from various settings, Esther discovered her gift and desire to work with people, specifically through vocational ministry where she is able to develop and care for them. Esther has an MA in Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary.
MARK REYNOLDS, Vice President, Leadership Development
Mark provides oversight of church planter training, assessment, coaching and funding as well as bringing new CTC initiatives to market.
He is passionate about creating learning programs that further develop leaders to reach their vision of planting new urban congregations and resourcing them through coaching, training and feedback.
Before serving in this current position he was the field director with Mission to the World in Manila facilitating church planting with Filipinos. Mark has also helped plant a church in Columbus, Ohio, served as campus staff with Campus Crusade at Oregon State University, and holds graduate degrees from Covenant Seminary, Aberdeen University and Saint Louis University.
Mark lives with his wife and two sons in Manhattan, all of whom share common affinities for reading, sports, and love for NYC.
